While fans would like to see football and big league baseball in Columbus, the Columbus blue Jackets and the Columbus Crew have plans to prove to any Columbus visitors they are more than enough.

Columbus Blue Jackets Professional Hockey

Members of the Central Division of the Western Conference, the Columbus Blue Jackets in Ohio are a team in the National Hockey League (NHL). The Blue Jackets were set up in 2000 as an expansion team and in 2009 qualified for the Stanley Cup playoffs. Exceptional players have played for the Columbus Ohio Blue Jackets include Sergei Fedorov, Fredrik Modlin, Geoff Sanderson and Rick Nash. The Blue Jackets play home games at the National Arena in Columbus and are the property of John P. McConnell. They’ve not begun to win a Stanley Cup or any championships, but have become a longtime team in Columbus. Jeff Rimer and Bill Davidge will also join the Columbus Ohio Blue Jackets team.

Professional Soccer in Columbus

The Columbus Crew soccer team was formed in 1994, and in 1999 began playing in the just built Columbus Crew Stadium. The stadium is the United State’s first top soccer stadium built specially for the game in the country. The official colors of the Columbus Crew are black and gold and has been nicknamed the “canary kit” and the “banana kit” by Crew fans. The effect was to consolidate fans into the “Nordecke” fan group, who offer more than satisfactory soccer in Columbus fan base against rivals of the Toronto FC and Chicago Fire.

Columbus Clippers Baseball

With the Cleveland Indians so close, there’s no top baseball in Columbus, but there’s junior league play. The Columbus Clippers are the Triple-A associates of the Cleveland Indians and play in Huntington Park in the Arena District of Columbus. In 2010 the Clippers won the Triple-A Baseball National Championship Game against the Tacoma Rainiers and in 2011 won it against the Omaha Gale Chasers. The Clippers ‘ current trademark is their name and a clipper ship in deep blue and white, while their insignia is a white “C” against a deep blue background. Junior league Columbus baseball is among some of the most steeped in America, embodying the essence of baseball.
