Fans Cheer for Philadelphia Major League Sports

Philadelphia is a town that takes its fan base and support seriously. Irrespective of what sport you follow, it’s assured that they will have a team for you and you’ll have a fan base that will be there for their team, win or lose. Major League Sports in Philadelphia has something for any sports fan on the planet!

The Philadelphia Eagles

Just visit any bar on a Sunday in Philadelphia and you will see the saying “Philly bleeds green”, and it does. The city loves the Philadelphia Eagles. The midnight green and black takes the gridiron and you can bet the fans will be there for their team, win or lose. Though the team has not won a Super Bowl yet, the Eagles seem to be evergreen contenders and even made it all the way to Super Bowl XXXIX. Who knows what upcoming seasons will hold for the Eagles.

Baseball, Anyone?

America’s pastime is baseball and one of the oldest groups ever in baseball, the Philadelphia Phillies, play their home games at the Citizens Bank Park. The Phils have been serious contenders ever since they won the World Series in 2008. Baseball in Philadelphia is always a hit when you go and watch them play. Players like Michael Martinez, Ryan Howard and Roy Halladay are assured to offer you 9 innings of excitement when you go to look at the Phillies play.

Hitting the Ice with the Philly Flyers’ Hockey

Fast paced action on the ice. The Flyers are the third most well liked team in the city of affection and for good reason. Assertive shooting, agressive checking, super fast skating, a reluctance to back down, and a history that dates back to the “Broad Street Bullies” of the ’70s, the Flyers orange and black is just as much a staple of the town as the cheesesteaks there. The Wells Fargo Center, home of the Flyers, is the 4th biggest hockey stadium in the NHL and even with a huge 19,537 capacity, they frequently sell out to such an extent that they finish up using Standing Room Only. Indeed, Flyers fans enjoy the game more than just about any other franchise. The Flyers made it to the Stanley Cup Finals in 2010, and they are looking to repeat history.

76ers Make History

Sharing a stadium with the Flyers hockey team, the Philadelphia 76ers bring angry basketball action to the big city. Passing, blocking, shooting, agressive checking and scoring are a must as the 76ers are looking to get back in the NBA finals and get their first title since 1983. With famous names in history like the great Dr. J and Allen Iverson, you realise the 76ers are a team with a rich history and watching a game against rivals like the Los Angeles Lakers and the Boston Celtics, they will give it everything they've got.

A “Union” in Philly

Most people don't know that Philadelphia also has a wonderful soccer team, and is a widely accepted 5th sport. The Philadelphia Union plays for Major League Soccer and anyone who enjoys the game of soccer will like to watch the Union as they run up and back down the pitch and kick, pass and run their way to victory! Few sports have the following around the globe as football, and why shouldn?t soccer in Philadelphia be a world’s game too.

No matter what your favorite sport is, you'll find it in Philadelphia. When you think of major league sports in Philadelphia, know that they have something for anyone and everyone, because Philadelphia was the birthplace of the melting pot of America, so why should sports be any different?
