For heavy soil or grease, use a store-bought cleaner with orange oil that is specifically made for wood cabinets. Test a spot first, and then work from the top down.

Analyze your reasons for remodelling before you begin any project. If you are remodelling to increase the likelihood of a quick home sale, focus your efforts on the kitchen and bathroom. These two remodels typically have the highest return on investment. If you are remodelling solely for personal reasons, you can begin anywhere you like.

When planning home improvements so that you can rent an area of your house out, make sure that space will adequately house a human being. If there’s absolutely no kitchen space and only a bed can fit in the sleeping area you will get far less rent and quite likely never find a renter.

Replace counter tops in your bathroom and kitchen with new marble or granite tops. Over time, counters will wear down especially if they are made of laminate. Older homes can have outdated or vintage counters. By replacing the counters you will improve the eye appeal and home value without spending a great deal of cash.

Whenever you are taking on a home improvement project in the bathroom or the kitchen, be sure to turn off the water first. Any time you work near water pipes, an accident can happen resulting in a leak. You want to take steps to minimize the damage so that you do not end up with a flooded room. Be sure to know where your water shutoff valves are, and turn the water off before beginning your work.
